(VCI) of Richmond, Virginia, from longtime owner and outgoing President Fred Landon. Landon said III stood out from other potential buyers due to its reputation and its products being a good fit. Established in 1967, VCI supplies elevator- and escalator-control products and accessories for systems ranging from two-landing hydros to traction elevators that travel 500 ft. KONE, Schindler, Otis and Hitachi received letters, as did private equity firms KKR, Bain, Advent, CVC, EQT, Blackstone, Partners Group and Apollo, unnamed sources said. One source said thyssenkrupp, which is bleeding money from its other divisions including steel, plant engineering and car parts, seeks to keep a 25% stake in elevators, which is valued at up to EUR17 billion (US$19 billion) and is, by far, its most profitable division. Responses to the letters are anticipated within two weeks. thyssenkrupp, which is also preparing for an initial public offering, is expected to sign a deal by the end of the year

(NEII) reported in its NEII Insider newsletter. Additional requirements for existing elevators and escalators have been added to "Washington Administrative Code 296-96, Safety Regulations and Fees for All Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators, and Other Conveyances." They are according to the 2015 ASME A17.3 safety codes. NEII said it supports Washington’s efforts to adopt what it calls "the critical safety provisions in ASME A17.3." More than 500 elevators will be supplied to Baku based on the contract. There were 63 supplied in July and the total number is currently at 145 elevators installed. The new elevators have been equipped with electronic and power backup systems. A unified dispatch system will also be created to manage all 542 elevators from one center. Wollaston had been the only non-accessible station along the MBTA Red Line. We are proud to announce that Elevator World, Inc. Editor-at-Large/Publisher Ricia Sturgeon-Hendrick is now part of that elite group as the 10th honoree. She follows in the footsteps of her father, William C. Sturgeon (1955), Helen Faser (1988), Leonard G. The units have an angle higher than 137˚, and are outfitted with structural lattice able to bear heavy glass side panels. The escalators include an internal illumination equipped with an automatic red-green-blue color switch synchronized with the skirt lights. thyssenkrupp observes this is the first example of this kind of design in Spain. Opening to the public in June, MEGA took four years to complete and involved 90 professionals from 39 companies. The installations are part of a larger scope of work at a trio of airports in Mallorca, Madrid and Barcelona. At Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, 42 passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) were installed starting in December 2018, 122 PBBs are being maintained and 10 are being refurbished.
