i met dj sega at his weekly party at Jamz skating rink.. i gotta say didnt know what tha fuck was going on in that place. something likea bunch of under 18 yr old black kids dressed kinda nu rave listening to hardcore party music and making up dances.. i had no idea this stuff was happenin right here in philly..  Now we just signed up sega to do this Hollertronix number 8 and its kinda got me thinking like how the hell did this kid from the bricks out in West Philly decide to make mudvayne and drowning pool remixes with lil jon samples.. thats just a snippet of what the brick bandit crew is up to.. this mix goes over his whole crews sound - the crew ranges between philly and newark , NJ- the brick bandits... tameil, mike v, tim dolla among others are murdering it right now. its not just a bmore thing - we got the video podcast coming next to show u how nuts it all is

i went to argentina a year ago for a show and i was all over buenos aires looking for street vendors and trying to hear local music. it wasnt easy to really get down like that.. the place had a lot of energy and all the girls had way better haircuts than in the USA. but it was super segregated socially. i had a local guide take me outside the city to a vila full of immigrants - paraguay, bolivia, uruguay that had come to argentina to find money and happiness. it was tiny streets and brick homes like apartment buildings and i had a barbecue there that was completely unreal... blood sausages and whatever else with bread and some green sauce.... anyway .. we sat and drank this crazy cheap wine and listened to local cumbia stuffs... the imigrants had brought it with them as it dripped down from columbia and took over latin america from the ghettos. that night was really perfect and i wont forget it... and  i guess cumbia is like the second music of argentina now after tango and The Ramones.. check out Damas Grati

before there was this old podcast (we 2 yrs strong!) there was one on radioclit (apple knocked em off)but it was crazy good. radioclit are friends of mad decent, one of the clits actually used to work at Big Dada when they signed me, i think he was my only fan in UK at the time (and he was french).. but then they got god at being wierd and making techno and even did a big track for bonde do role and now santogold... holla. these days they are the coolest world music auteurs your gonna meet and know way too much about africa - so before they get busy again on thier own mixes they did an exclusive 15 minute joint from the ivory coast that bangs in the streets

if you dont know about the rap scene in the bay area.. your kinda lost, according to the the ìtell me when to goî video.. its a proper subculture, they got ghost riding whips, shaking dreads, vans with mac dre pictures on em... and cuddies say wee or something.. its crazy though and while it hasnt been able to crack the mainstream, its totally infected all the kids from sacremento to like whatever all of california..(i did a birthday party in LA and everyone screamed for ìsomething hyphy!î) but heres a comp that just came out ìin school suspensionî thats out on itunes.. thats all made by kids still under grade 12!  Lots of whispering and fingersnaps and myspace... plus I want to get bass drums sound like that, must be a class you gotta take.

I got invited to play in tel aviv about 2 years ago and i didnt think much of it at the time... but it ended up being one of the top 3 shows I had ever played..like 700 kids showed up and i did about 3 hours of everything from dubstep and roots and culture to techno and some tongue and cheek trance drops and the people were with me the whole time. the opening djs - polar pair had just released a 12 on tru thoughts and were mixing inst and acapellas from ying yang twins to massive attack like i was in downtown brooklyn 2 years later... it was advanced and mad.. All i knew from Israeli music was like .... infected mushroom and tiesto... who both hold it down. but psytrance wasnt really my thing.besides that , tel aviv is a beach city where you can find smoking hookas on the beach and ethiopian kids with sunbleached hair jumpin off rocks all day.  its far from the day to day violence that is published and for the most part its a secular city with Arab neighborhoods mixed in and around.. but what i didnt expect o

yeah ,,, blaqstarr "supastarr" Ep just got released by mad decent ....... if you like our radio, then support our label. blaqstarr is a fixture in baltimore. if you didnt know the evolution of the club sound in baltimore, then turning on 92q on a weekday drive time and hearing "get my gun" or "feel it in the air" (on a commercial black radio station) might freak you the fuck out .. it comes out of nowhere, and blaqstarrs sound has taken over the city.. (especially if your under 20) check rocking off or spongebob or wu-tangin on youtube... cause its about 600,000 videos that kids made to blaqstarrs city wide anthems.. wait til you see the EPk we just made at an all ages dance.............. anyway . this mix is mad wierd, loud and scary and still kinda pretty in parts. kinda like baltimore

james brown died on christmas, and I couldnít do any more podcasts til we did it about him.cause james brown gave birth to this podcast and he gave birth to everything in modern music  - nothing is the same after he was here and now heís gone and I feel bad for people in heaven that have to rewind through his life cause it must be pretty damn nuts. Zulu nation celebrates its 26th anniversary this week, me and zulu nation... weíre both scorpios, nearly the same age. Pitbull sound is one of the premier funk carioca dj crews in Rio..up there with Big mix, furacao 2000, Pipos... and even Soul grand prix way back when they played soul still at baile funks .. Sany played a party I put together in Prazeres.. its a favela high up near corcovado (where the big jesus from micheal jacksons video stays at!)  its probably the highest favela in all of Brazil. If you know my podcast ,, you probably know the drill with Brazillian funk music..The sounds range from vocal melody, syncopated portugese rhymes.. 5 or 6 extremely overused Samples (pavorati organ hits, rocky theme (chopped to hell), old school miami bass vocal stabs, Dire straghts ìbrother at armsî shows up all the time, Euro techno samples.. and most importantly samba drums (tamberzao, batidao) patterned in an electro rhythm...melody is missing, and repetition is the key..  Dj style is similliar to a dancehall sound in Jamaica.. lyrics are blended by many artists over the same rhythm.. the tempo never changes..... the sound i
