Dr. Tonya Lawson is a musician, blogger, and SEO specialist whose mission is to empower musicians and other creatives to build out passive income streams so they have the financial freedom to live the life they want to live.  She works part time at Middle Tennessee State University, runs a private music studio of 50+ students, has 3 blogs, and through her membership, helps musicians get their websites found on google so they can book more gigs, get more students, and earn passive income along the way! • Kincaid Rabb: Navigating Burnout and Creativity

    30/11/2023 Duración: 37min

Kincaid Rabb is a writer and composer. They like dinosaurs, roller coasters, romance bookstores, craft cocktails, and houseplants. Kincaid writes about childhood memories, fantasy worlds, and little epiphanies that inspire the everyday extraordinary.  Kincaid identifies as queer, transgender, nonbinary, neurodivergent, and autistic, and uses they/them pronouns.    I’ve been working with Kincaid for a while - they wrote a fantastic piece for the oboists in my FLOW program and I have such admiration for their talent - but this conversation was not about that.     Many people aspire to a creative life - the magical idea of working from home, as a composer or writer, all the time sounds just heavenly. Kincaid speaks eloquently about the difficulties that come along with this life, and I’ve not heard anyone speak so specifically and helpfully about burnout and creative recovery.   I know you will hear some ideas and truths that you can take away into your own practice!  You can find Kincaid at their website or on

  • Jonathan Kravtchenko: Tangos for Two

    14/09/2023 Duración: 35min

Jonathan Kravtchenko is an exciting young composer from Canada. He is currently getting ready for the premiere of his new opera-nova, "Tango for Two", which premieres in Toronto on October 21st. It's difficult to get STARTED in a music career, and in my conversation with Jonathan we looked at the landscape for recent graduates.  COVID was awful for everyone, but my husband and I were in a relatively privileged place, with established portfolio careers to fall back on.  The generation that came of age during this pandemic has had a harder time!   We talked about the needs of new audiences, the trajectories of young musicians, and his upcoming self-produced opera premiere, Tango for Two. You can follow Jonathan at his website, Facebook, and YouTube. Thanks for joining me on Crushing Classical!  Theme music and audio editing by DreamVance.
