  • GamePlay: Session Zero

    15/08/2018 Duración: 01h42min

Everyone does session zero differently. This is how... what? You don't know what session zero is? Well, for some gaming groups the story they play is built by the DM and the players take it or leave it. But in others, the game to be played is strongly influenced by the players and DM working together to come up with the bones of the game. So again, everyone does it different, this is how we do it. Come learn about The Sister Isles. Hear what it was and what it is today. If your podcast catcher of choice doesn't show the full show notes head to http://www.daveandgary.com for all the details. • Niisii Lore: A Short History of the Sister Isles

    12/08/2018 Duración: 08min

Welcome to the Sister Isles… of course that’s not what they’ve always been called, but that’s the only name anyone can remember anymore. The Sister Isles are named after the beloved children of High Lord Aaron. But as you’ve never heard of the these particular islands before it’s pretty certain you don’t know who that is. Let me explain. Over 1000 years ago HIgh Lord Aaron of Hythain was sent from the capital of Bondment to the far western islands to steady violent storms that were threatening to tear apart all of Hythainia. High Lord Aaron was a weather master and held special relations with the Ventus, God of Weather. Moving to the farthest reaches of the world was not something Aaron wanted to do, but he did as His High Lord commanded. With him he took wealth, power, guards and both his wife, Naomei, and mistress, Elizia. Naomei - Priestess of Sib The Goddess of Peacekeepers, Traders, Diplomats and Shipwrights. It is said Naomei could talk someone out of their last penny if she deemed the reasoning go

  • Orcs

    05/08/2018 Duración: 47min

Orcs. Orcs. Orcs. Orcs... it's all about Orcs :D. How are we going to do Orcs? We have NOOOOOO clue. As always they ramble, get off topic, are rude, and off color. You've been warned. NPCs in this episode: Riser... but it's okay - he deserved it by being a bad guy and The First Orc Cesar. • Niisii Lore: A Brief Introduction To Niisii

    31/07/2018 Duración: 30min

Introduction Oh hi. You must be here to learn about our world of Niisii. Awesome. Unlike many campaign settings who’s history and design were created by a small group of designers, Niisii is a shared world where the future, and the past, is constantly being created by those that play in it. So when I say our world I do mean our world. Whether you were directed here because you play in one of the many games that are run in this campaign setting, you are listening to this on the Dave & Gary podcast, or you have stumbled across this some other way, consider this a primer to the lands of Niisii. This will not be an exhaustive overview of the world and its history but it will hopefully get you comfortable enough with the world so that you can play with us or follow along with the podcast games. In this short introduction I will try to cover: The origins of the campaign setting Games Played In The World What the average character would know about the world including The Ages, or history, of Niisii And finally,

  • Chain Devil

    22/07/2018 Duración: 35min

This episode is all about chains and torture and devils... and how to throw an episode out quick when the bosses find out they've been slacking off. As always they ramble, get off topic, are rude, and off color. You've been warned. NPCs in this episode: again.. no one.. We didn't call any NPCs out by name - not to say we didn't mess with the poor helpless ones, but we at least didn't name them. • Swords

    08/07/2018 Duración: 01h26min

In this episode the gang gets straight to the point. No vampires trying to get laid, no space elves, just steel. As always they ramble, get off topic, are rude, and off color. You've been warned. After we get done talking about sharp pointy things we throw Miranda back behind the screen and her topics are: Harbor, Banquet, Grandmother, Miner, Quiet, and Courage. NPCs in this episode: Mr. Evanovich came back for more abuse. Seems like the vampire liked it the first time and came back for more! • Connecticut

    24/06/2018 Duración: 32min

Episode #8 is where the host find out that it's more fun in a group to be behind the screen together. Since we're all working together maybe no one will get all butt-hurt - or maybe we'll still figure out how. Collaboratively we come up with ideas for the following random words: Ordinary Attractive Retirement Connecticut Hypothesis Catalog Some of them are easier than others, but once the clock runs out on each of those topics we, again as a group, pick the one we like best. AND FINALLY!!! We have a BONUS ROUND - yeah we had to twist the rules to make it happen, but shhh... we won't tell if you don't. After we grab all these weird ideas we try to make them all work together. Easy-Peesy, right? NPCs in this episode: Nada... we harmed no innocents in this episode - Go Us! • Mirrors

    10/06/2018 Duración: 01h21min

Episode #7... That's over 3 months worth, well if we hadn't dropped three at the very beginning.. but I guess that's what we get for being over achievers? Our occasional intruder is with us again to discuss tonight's topic which was Mirrors. What we do with it, just this side of, amazing. How we go from the simple word Mirrors to a romantic comedy of a vampire learning to take a selfie is a little mind boggling, but that's where the fun is :). This episode's Behind the Screen covers the topics of Timber, Execution, Trustee, Funeral, Photograph, and Physical. Please note: We are unscripted. We ramble. We get off topic. We are rude. We are often off color and we laugh loudly... a lot. You've been warned! • Psychics

    27/05/2018 Duración: 01h40min

Half a dozen. That's a milestone, right? This podcast marks the 6th episode that we've released. I guess it's not really a reason to celebrate, but we're bored... we'll take whatever reason we can :D. Gaining Inspiration - In this episode we discuss psychics, but that you probably already know since you foresaw it coming long ago :). Anyway, we hit on the genres Fantasy, Horror, and Romance. Behind the Screen is BACK! This time it’s Randy’s time behind that screen. It’s his turn to put all his ideas out there and it’s Matt, Miranda, and Cc’s turn to make his life a living hell. Randy’s topics are: Knife, White-Out, Television, Thermometer, Tomato, and Sunglasses. Please note: We are unscripted. We ramble. We get off topic. We are rude. We are often off color and we laugh loudly... a lot. You've been warned! • Death

    13/05/2018 Duración: 01h21min

Episode #5… 5 - really? It seems like it’s we've done at least a million episodes ... or none at all. Guess we get those confused (really - an obscure movie reference in the show notes? This is getting pretty bad - someone needs to stop Cc.) We have an intruder in our room this time and so we threw him behind the screen. We figured it’s what he gets for finding his way in the room. If that wasn’t bad enough not only did we put him behind the screen we gave him the topics of Snail, Insurance, Observation, Star, Nut and Giraffe. Gaining Inspiration - This episode’s topic was Death (bom bom bom bom) and we hit on the genres Fantasy, Post Apocalyptic, Dystopian, Science Fiction, Modern Day, and Horror. Please note: We are unscripted. We ramble. We get off topic. We are rude. We are often off color and we laugh loudly... a lot. You've been warned! NPCs in this episode: Tom, Thomas, References (in other words - “Here, let me Google that for you): Midnight Hour - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089593/ Xanadu - h

  • Faye In SPACE

    29/04/2018 Duración: 47min

It’s only episode #4 and we’re changing stuff around. On this episode we’re not just verbal vomiting idea after idea we’re picking a topic and sticking with it through thick and thin…. No matter how bad it gets. FAYE IN SPAAACCCEEEE. Yup, you read that right we’re going there. Maybe Dave and Gary really should let us get some sunshine; we’re starting to go buggers. Just to show how crazy we're getting we didn't do a Behind the Screen.... Nope...none of us was put on the spot after we finished collaborating on a total epic yet anti-climatic story idea. Please note: We are unscripted. We ramble. We get off topic. We are rude. We are often off color and we laugh loudly... a lot. You've been warned! • Musical Instruments

    15/04/2018 Duración: 31min

Episode #3… only about a million to go before we find a way out of these chains. No One goes Behind the Screen… That’s good news for you as it makes this a shorter episode. Now you can get this one over with and get to a better way to spend your time. Gaining Inspiration - This episode’s topic was Musical Instruments and we hit on the genres of fantasy, horror, and science fiction. Please note: We are unscripted. We ramble. We get off topic. We are rude. We are often off color and we laugh loudly... a lot. You've been warned! • Pictures

    15/04/2018 Duración: 01h08min

Wow.. we’re back! A couple quick notes: We got fed! And a good thing too as we were getting really hungry. Sadly it was gruel, but it was food! ...and as promised we did get music! Way to go us (now maybe Dave and Gary won’t yell at us quiet as much). Gaining Inspiration - This episode’s topic was Pictures and we hit on the genres of romance, fantasy, horror, mystery. Behind the Screen - In tonight’s Behind the Screen it was Miranda’s turn on the spot and she was given the random items of: Broccoli, Panda, Angry Charging Bear, Popping Bubble, Jumbled Rubix Cube, and Fidget Spinner. (Spoiler Alert!) She got 3 points. If you’re keeping score like we are (hey we gotta pass the time somehow) you know Matt and Miranda are now tied at 3 points each! Please note: We are unscripted. We ramble. We get off topic. We are rude. We are often off color and we laugh loudly... a lot. You've been warned! . • Cloth

    15/04/2018 Duración: 30min

Welcome to our first episode! Dave and Gary are tired of coming up with ideas on their own so what do they do? They hire (kidnap, blackmail, shanghai) a bunch of gaming geeks to do it for them. These geeks (Miranda, Matt, Cc and Randy) are tasked with coming up with story plots/hooks/ideas to appease their corporate overlords. Since Dave and Gary found them at a RPG convention their ideas will be largely for Role Playing Games, but like with all good (and bad) ideas they can be used out of the context they were formed for... such as games, stories, scripts, movies, poems, paintings, interpretative dance, etc. In the first episode you eavesdrop on the ways the captives try to keep themselves from going crazy-ier. Gaining Inspiration - A cool name for what’s basically verbal brainstorming. One of the crew came up with the topic and then all of us share ideas on how we would use that topic in a game or story idea in a few different genres. This episode’s topic was Cloth and we hit on the genres of sci-fi, ho

  • What do we do again?

    13/04/2018 Duración: 01min

So what exactly are we doing here? Cc explains. As you can hear, we tried to use a script once but it just doesn't work for us. We are best unscripted. https://www.facebook.com/DaveGaryPodcast/ www.daveandgary.com
