  • Living with More Joy & Peace through Spirituality with Pixie Lighthorse

    29/11/2019 Duración: 01h11min

Cherie Dawn Carr is the author of five books centered on self-healing through intimate relationship with the natural world. She is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She writes as Pixie Lighthorse to honor the unheard voices of her ancestors.   She found that teaching and talking to people about spirituality is challenging while we are possessed by our wounds, shadow, binary perceptions, boundaries violations, religious trauma and collective colonial violations. Her books aim to help individuals sort through the influences that block their connection to greater sources of peace and wisdom.   In today’s conversation, we talk about her new book Goldmining in the Shadows, which explores healing our inner selves and spirits so we can live more consciously today.    We’re at a very particular and poignant time in our society, culture, and especially our political landscape, making this type of healing even more important.   It’s also the holidays, which despite being a happy time for most, can b

  • The Man Cave: Creating a space for men to be honest open & real with Michael DeSanti & Pablo Garcia

    14/11/2019 Duración: 01h06min

I’ve been thinking a lot about celebrating our similarities and the things that make us all human so today’s show couldn’t have come at a better time.    I believe there are more things that make us the same than different...even men & women.   I often wonder what type of pressure men feel in today’s society.    What it means to “be a man.”   Boys are or historically have been taught not to cry, to bring home the bacon, and to be “manly” -- whatever that means.    They’re supposed to like sports, have deep voices, and do the chores that require heavy lifting.    I think strides are taken to shift this, but I think taking the time to consider men’s ability to be vulnerable, sensitive, and open about their emotions is really important.    I found a blog post on the Atlantic about shame and gender and a conversation with Brene Brown that shared that men’s shame is inflicted by women in their lives who tend to be repelled when they show chinks in their armor.    This made me sad and want to know what I can do

  • You're Not Alone

    13/11/2019 Duración: 18min

In this special "solocast" I am talking about something that’s really important to me - something that’s been on my mind for the past year or so and has shown up A LOT over the past few months.  Along with what I’m talking about today, I'm also going to share a new project that I’m working on  - a project that really needs your help in order to have an impact.  Loneliness is being described as an epidemic. Nearly half of Americans reported feeling alone.  Scientists have long known that loneliness is emotionally painful and can lead to psychiatric disorders like depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and even hallucinatory delirium.  In 2015, researchers at UCLA discovered that social isolation triggers cellular changes that result in chronic inflammation, predisposing the lonely to serious physical conditions like heart disease, stroke, metastatic cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.  Loneliness doesn’t discriminate against age, gender, job title, role in the home, marital status or the amount of money you ma

Many of us feel this way, but instead of finding a new way, we stay stuck in the patterns we’ve created, or the patterns we’ve been trained to follow.   The good news is, there is a path out, and for today’s guest, that path was spirituality and connecting with her authentic self. No what she does for a living or what her body looks like, but who she was at her core.   Paige and I talk about how past traumas manifest in our

  • Money, Money, Money. Finding financial freedom in your value system.

    22/08/2019 Duración: 01h05min

Money - whether you’re good with your money or feeling like you could use an electric shock reminder every time you open up Amazon and regardless of whether you make a million or 10 thousand, it’s a tricky and sometimes sensitive topic.   There’s a lot of shame in not being able to “keep up with the Jones’s” and feeling like a “have not.”    And most of the time -- it rarely feels abundant.   Etiquette tells us not to talk about it. Unless of course you live in NYC where one-upping one another on how much rent to space ratio is par for the course and how could you possibly save    Well, today, right here, right now my guest Erica and I are breaking that taboo.    Erica Gellerman is a CPA, MBA, personal finance writer, and founder of The Worth Project: a weekly money newsletter you actually want to read.
