This is my honest and candid thoughts on my blackness, Christianity, and Imago Dei. 

There is this notion that needs to be challenged that men and our behavior is above reproach. We can do what we want in the name of being masculine. However, the truth is we can not do what we want, and it is absurd to think we can use the bible perpetuate an agenda. I'm here to challenge this idea and talk about toxic masculinity in the black church. 

Ok, allow me to be honest for a moment. I did not know who Nipsey Hussle was. I saw him a few times in the news, but that was the extent of it. My children know who he is. However, when I heard his story I became intrigued. This young man went from the block to making boss moves and being an activist and voice for this generation. To hear about his tragic and senseless murder was upsetting to me. This episode is a tribute to him and to heroic legacy. RIP Nipsey Hussle

Preachers Kids/Pastors Kids get a bad rep. Mainly because our lives are examined closely by onlookers. We are not bad. Misunderstood mainly, but not bad. There is a dark side of being a preachers kid we will explore at a later date. However, this episode will highlight the good things we learned as a PK. Join the conversation!  

Addiction is a horrible monster to wrestle with. Le'Andria Johnson has been wrestling with hers for years. She is now in a place to receive the help she needs. My question is what has the black church done to help her?  The same people who book her for conferences, concerts, and other events are some of the same people who have turned their back on her. How can call ourselves the church but turn away from those who need our help? 

In the black church there is a teaching that says silencing a person who has messed up is a way of stamping out sin. They use the scripture from Galatians 5:9  that says "A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."  This scripture has been taken completely out of context. Because they liken yeast to sin and the whole batch of dough as the church (or local assembly)  The majority of the time those who have been silenced are teenage females who have become pregnant. Imagine the hurt, shame, and embarrassment they have to endure. This form of discipline has caused more resentment towards God and the church than we actually know. There are countless stories of those who were silenced and were forced into making public apologies. I want to begin a dialogue on this issue and help people heal.  

When you hear the phrase "church hurt" what is the first thing that comes to mind? All of us have experienced hurt by the actions of another person. However, the church is one of those places where people things happen and they are not discussed for decades. This is a reason why many have unresolved issues in their life. In this podcast we will discuss this topic of Church Hurt. Things will get uncomfortable for a moment, but when it is all said and done there will be clarity brought to this topic.  Lets Talk!
