We all know the feeling. You go on a training course and come back inspired by the new skills and tools that you have acquired. But then it turns out to be hard to persuade your colleagues to try the new approaches, and your manager starts asking for results and you find yourself slipping back to the way things have always been done. We want to change all that. At least for Service Design. Our partnership with CIH Cymru aims to take a cohort of people from across Housing and the wider public service landscape and support them not simply to learn more about Service Design but to develop a new practice in their organisation. Ben Proctor sat down with Jo Carter and Melys Phinnemore to find out how the pioneer cohort was going and what we have learned so far in this programme.

Esko Reinikainen sat down to talk to Lisa Gill from Tuff Leadership and the Leadermorphosis podcast and Sharon Dale from dxw about Liberating Structures. Liberating Structures are a selection of 33 alternative structures for facilitating meetings and conversations, curated by Henri Lipmanowicz and Keith McCandless. There is an active community using, developing and sharing these techniques and Lisa and Sharon are both enthusiastic members of that community. There’s a been a real buzz around Liberating Structures in the public sector for a few years because they provide a practical answer to the question “how can we make our organisations more distributive and less hierarchical. Esko, Lisa and Sharon talked about working with Liberating Structures, taking your first step into using the techniques and a host of other things besides.

Luke and Ben from The Satori Lab talk to Katherine Rooney from Delib and Open Data Camp about local government wesbite visits, analytics and open data.
