What is the Biblical understanding and response to trials and adversity? In this guest message at Yountville Community Church, Eric teaches on where trials come from, what their purpose is, and our response. The main emphasis of the message is that you are equipped in Christ to overcome and conquer the adversity that comes in your life. Trials and hardship are NOT from God and this message gives you the Biblical understanding of trials and tribulations.

In this message Eric covers the unfathomable truths in the Bible about our transformation in Christ and the new life we are able to live. This sermon was preached at Yountville Community Church in April 2023.

This is part 2 of a message series that began with the question, "How could a good God allow evil in the world?" This message is how to be victorious over trials and tribulations that come against you. Contrary to popular belief, God is not the author of your pain and trial. One of the most vexing problems of the faith is explaining and understanding how a good God could allow evil in the world. If God is really good, how do we understand all the pain, suffering, trials, and tribulations in the world? Perhaps the greatest lie ever believed in Christianity is the reason that Jesus had to die and who killed him. The conventional view is that Jesus was punished in our place for our sins by the Father. The theological term for this view is called Penal Substitution.  But is that the truth? Was Jesus actually punished in our place? This punishment paradigm is problematic for several reasons. One of the biggest lies we believe about God is that He separates from us when we sin. We believe a Holy God cannot even look upon sin and therefore separates from us. We tear down the narrative many of us have believed from the Garden of Eden and then also seemingly proven on the cross when Jesus cries out, "My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?" Repair one of the most toxic lies you believe about God in this session.
