    Be Not Unequally Yoked

    29/09/2020 Duración: 40min

Paul here zeroes in on the main reason some of the Corinthians had not opened wide their hearts to Paul - they were -unequally yoked to unbelievers.- The most likely problem was they were still worshipping in pagan temples and even having relations with temple prostitutes. Paul gives five examples of opposing forces in the world, such as darkness and light, which can have no fellowship. He emphasizes the absolute incompatibility of the temple of God with idols - the real temple here referring to the lives of believers who are in-dwelt with the Spirit of God. Because of this precious fact, believers in Yahweh, people of saving faith, cannot be joined philosophically and spiritually with those captured with enthrallment of Satan's kingdom. We rub shoulders with unbelievers but must reject their mindset and motivation which are contrary to the will of God. The Christian person must rid himself of all evil pollution and positively, seek to be holy as God is holy.

    Reconciliation Through Christ

    08/09/2020 Duración: 41min

Reconciliation with God is mankind's greatest need and this passage in 2 Corinthians 5-11-21 is a major text in the New Testament that treats of this subject. In the Biblical sense, reconciliation means bringing peace and friendship between former enemies. The Bible is forthright in declaring that because of their sin, men and women are enemies of the holy and righteous God. What they are powerless to do in being reconciled to God, he did by sending his only Son from heaven to accomplish reconciliation by his death and resurrection. God is now reconciled to those who come to faith in his Son.

    Treasure in Jars of Clay

    25/08/2020 Duración: 42min

Having described in the previous verse 6 the gracious power of God to cause the living Christ to be savingly revealed to his people, Paul now describes the frailty of the -jars of clay,- i.e., the human persons who carry about the indwelling Christ. In particular the apostles such as he and Timothy, in their service to the Gospel have been suffering every kind of hardship and persecution imaginable. Yet nothing can damage or destroy the power of their internal treasure, the living Christ himself by his Holy Spirit. Knowing the temporary nature of their present sufferings, and knowing that the resurrection of the dead awaits them, they continue their service undaunted in commitment, rejoicing that God can continue to use them to bring many others to faith. So should we follow their example.
