  • The Necessity of the Ascension

    14/05/2021 Duración: 36min

We rightly rejoice in Christ's bodily resurrection from the dead. But his resurrection would be incomplete and unfinished without the accompanying ascension. Christ had to enter the heavenly sanctuary to present his blood for our redemption and begin his high priestly ministry. The ascension brought glory to Christ as the triumphant Mediator and thus the Spirit could now be poured out on his disciples. The ascension was necessary so that Christ could be present in many places with many believers by the Spirit - the incarnated Lord can only be in one place in his body. Power for witnessing to the world then became the possession of God's people.-Christ's ascension means glory for him and his presence with us.

  • The Meaning of the Death of Jesus the Messiah

    12/05/2021 Duración: 18min

We can only understand the meaning of the death of Jesus of Nazareth when viewed from the fact of his resurrection from the dead. Jesus arose. He who was dead 3 days arose from the dead and he lives forever. The New Testament is written from this perspective. The proclamation of this reality that his foes could not counter is what spread the message. A living Savior who had atoned for them filled their hearts with joy and their souls with peace. Christ resurrection proved his claims and was the divine receipt that sin had been atoned and people could now have eternal fellowship with the holy God.

  • Jesus Recommissions Peter

    05/05/2021 Duración: 45min

The third appearance of Jesus to groups of his disciples took place on the shore of Lake Galilee. After serving his disciples breakfast, Jesus addresses Peter in front of the others. He asks him three times if he loves him, corresponding to the Peter's three denials during Jesus' trial. Peter affirms his love for Christ, and Christ tells him three times to feed, to tend, his lambs and his sheep. Peter's authority to be the leader of the apostles was thus confirmed by Christ. He was forgiven and restored - thus in Peter's failings and restoration we, as weak and imperfect Christians, have hope that Christ will use us also in his service.

Having received all authority in heaven and on earth after his crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus Christ issued a solemn command to his disciples to go and make disciples of all the nations. • The Meeting with Mary

    21/04/2021 Duración: 34min

The distraught Mary Magdalene was astounded on resurrection morning when the Lord Jesus confronted her in the garden of the tomb. The speaking of her name was a revelation that he was not dead but alive, that he was not distant, but near, and not absent but present. Their relationship that had been terminated by his death was suddenly restored, and, oh, the joy in Mary's soul. Jesus would continue as her Lord, her Teacher, and her Comforter as he prepared for the ascension back to his Father -by nature- and her Father -by grace-. After his ascension, the relationship would go on, but in a different way, as Christ would be with Mary by His Spirit, as well as with all his people throughout the ages.

  • Christ's Bodily Resurrection

    08/04/2021 Duración: 41min

The first witnesses of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ were some women disciples who had followed him from Galilee, ministering to his needs. When most of the men had deserted Jesus at his trial and crucifixion, these were at the cross, witnessed his burial, and were the first to encounter the risen Christ. They saw him, heard him speak, even grabbed his feet, and worshipped him. Other similar incidents occurred over the next 40 days with the eleven male disciples. All could testify that -...which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life- the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it...- 1 John 1-1-2. Jesus' bodily resurrection is the ground on which our own resurrection from the dead stands.

Was Jesus' cry of abandonment by his Father only a feeling he had or had he really been forsaken- Jesus was fully God and fully man in one person - the mystery and truth of the incarnation. As the second person of the Godhead he had always been in perfect fellowship with his Father and this bond of fellowship within God himself could never be broken. Yet in his humanity Jesus as our sin-bearer and sacrifice did experience abandonment by the Father. Christ experienced this, what we deserved, in our place, so that we will never be abandoned or forsaken by God the Father.
