Subx - The Subversive Experience

Informações:

Sinopsis

Noel, Kurt, and Bert start a podcast. A long form, conversational, example of exploring ideas for a new way of living the life of a disciple. We call it SubX - that's short for the "Subversive Experience." We feel like the point of Jesus' ministry was to subvert the established religious, political, and cultural norms of his day. The values he taught and lived (the ones that got him killed) have value for us today. Join us as we discuss our exsistance in through the lens of those values in our contemporary world. We truly believe that discussion in community is the best way to explore and these themes. We hope that our conversations about our faith will encourage you to seek out and engage discussions within your own communities. Conversations are messy, so is life, we can find new understanding and empathy when we do the hard work of listening to each other.

    10/02/2016 Duración: 01h16min

Hello, Bert here. Number 7 hasn't been lucky for us... After I somehow lost most of my recording we decided to meet up and re-record... The only mic that caught our audio was the internal laptop microphone. I tried to clean up the audio as best I could but there is still some residual music in the background. Based solely on the audio an argument could be made to scrap it but the conversation is so good we'd have never recreated it. So, here it stands as a reminder for us to double back our buckles before we climb these mountains. This is our kick off convo based on the "Inglorious Pastors" series from The Meeting House.  The Meeting House is in Canada which is a kinder, gentler nation. And they come from an Anabaptist church tradition which is committed to non-violence and the peace teachings of Jesus. It is for these reasons that they are the perfect mentors for us on the subject of living as peaceful Christ followers. We, on the other hand, come from a nation that prefers to shoot first and ask questions l

Topic 1: Still reeling from shootings and unrest we try and work through our place in a diverse world.  Topic 2: Is Christian Culture Copying Secular Culture - It's a bit of a rant night but I rants lead to some good discussion. Why Christians condemn the world and then tries to emulate it to attract and manipulate. Topic 3: The origins of our Meaning and Purpose- wait for it, wait for it, and there we are... takes few turns of the key for the engine to turn over but then we get going   References: Moonshine Jesus podcast: Baltimore and Freddie Gray This American Life: The Incredible Rarity of Changing Your Mind TV Show: Vanilla Ice Goes Amish Book: Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz
