  • Al Unser Jr & Gabby Chaves: Racing and the World Cup

    03/07/2018 Duración: 48min

Try interviewing two Indy Car drivers when one of them is from Columbia and Columbia is taking on England in the World Cup on the TV above your head! I had the honor of doing just that with todays show featuring two time INDY 500 winner Al Unser Jr and INDY car driver Gabby Chaves. While Gabby may be teaching Al a thing or two about soccer, Al is being paid to coach Gabby in everything racing. After retiring from a successful driving career, Al Unser Jr is now employed by Harding Racing. And for Al it’s a dream come true. His new career finds him wearing all kinds of different hats, coach, obtaining sponsorships, helping in the shop, consultant almost anything asked of him except actually driving the car. This lively banter between the two drivers is full of April Fools Day pranks, drones, road rage, oddest vehicle ever raced, death defying pace car laps with Bob, Tom, me and Al around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and more. Plus you may even be inspired by the touching story of Al’s daughter Cody and her l

  • WNAP Alumni: The Wrath of the Buzzard Returns

    05/06/2018 Duración: 01h26min

If you grew up in Central Indiana in the 70’s and 80’s you probably listened to WNAP. Cris Connor and his band of rebel “djs” changed the radio landscape and left a mark on many a listener. I would be one. I was in high school when I first heard “the Wrath of the Buzzard”. It was in your face, loud, exciting, topical, and the music: free form. It sounded like their parents were gone for the weekend and they could get away with anything, and they did. I was fortunate to sit down in the Bob & Tom studios with a few of the major players recently: Cris Connor, Fast Freddy Fever, Bruce Munson, Ann Craig and Buster Bodine. Talk about stories. We find out how all of this madness started, how each player came to be a part of the station, the beginning of the legendary Raft Race, and some promotions that may not have been so successful. Also favorite memories from each of our guests. One involves death and another a carpet square (guess which jock carried his own carpet square). We also discuss other great jocks w

    29/05/2018 Duración: 51min

After spending many years in the corporate world jewelry designer Judi Powers was ready for a change. She enrolled in a jewelry making class in 2002 and found her true passion. Judi has taken classes at 92Y, Jewelry Arts Institute, S.V.A. (School of Visual Arts in NYC), Brooklyn Metal Works and Studio Jewelers. In 2013 she earned her AAS Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Jewelry Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. I had a chance to meet her recently and we discussed what it takes to make a HUGE career change after almost 20 years in marketing. I was also fascinated with Judi’s choice of materials. Working with a lot of raw stones and unusual gemstones like dendritic agate her work is quite unique. Learn about sustainability in jewelry and why she chooses materials like green gold. Inspired by nature and her grandmother Judi’s story is an inspiration for all and a great lesson on where jewelry actually comes from and how labor intensive some work can be. • IN State Senator Jim Merritt: The War on Heroin and Opioids

    08/05/2018 Duración: 59min

We are scratching the surface on a tough topic in this episode, Opioids and Heroin addiction with Indiana State Senator Jim Merritt. Senator Merritt has undertaken the huge job of trying to kill heroin use in 5 years in his state of Indiana. He is 2 years into his fight and we talk about how far he has come and how much work still needs to be done. The opioid/heroin epidemic has hit almost all of us. No matter your race, economic status, religion, age we all know someone who has been hit with this sweeping disease. I call it a disease for a reason. Addiction is an illness it is NOT a character flaw. Let’s loose the stigmas attached to the word “addiction” and start helping people. That’s Senator Merritt’s message and he shares many useful tools. Including; prevention/education, treatment programs, going after drug lords, updated drug teams to assist after an overdose in hospitals, alternate medicines and devices to block pain receptors, and even clean needle exchange programs. There is no clear cut answer to

  • Jimmy 'Mad Dog' Matis: Lessons in Bob & Tom History

    01/05/2018 Duración: 01h08min

Kristi has alluded to the fact that her mom has recently gone through a difficult time and that has meant an increase in her time away from the podcast. Plus we are honoring Morty's Comedy Joint, which always holds a special place in our heart because it hosted the first Kristi Lee Uninterrupted Live Show (and all the subsequent live shows). It is in forced relocation mode and has closed until the end to middle of Summer. So what better throwback episode than the time we went live with Jimmy 'Mad Dog' Matis and talked early Bob & Tom, the time he fought a bear, avoided his wife and more. -------------------------- Jimmy may be a funny guy but he is happy and content with his life after 25 years with Q95 and the Bob and Tom Show. He now works for the Indianapolis Colts securing sponsors and doing off-season radio. But most of all, he feels blessed with a wife of 30 years and five boys. He enjoys entertaining in his pool house and whiffle ball field. Jimmy Matis (aka Dog) joins Kristi Lee live at Morty’s Co

  • Auggie Smith: The “Most of Life is Good” Comedian!

    24/04/2018 Duración: 01h02min

I have known our guest this week for many years. Going back to his first appearance on The Bob & Tom Show and then again on the road with The Bob & Tom Comedy Tour. Auggie Smith has changed a lot. The man who exposed me to the wonders of a good chocolate martini and could party until it was time to catch a plane in the morning is now all grown up. He is the proud father of two lovely children and the husband of one. His comedy has grown up too. He now thinks about his audience and the time and trouble it took them to get to a show, not about himself. Thus making for a more entertaining experience. Auggie grew up with a single mom in Billings Montana. He excelled at speech and public speaking and had a teacher who suggested standup. His career really took off after moving to Portland Oregon and after doing The Bob & Tom Show. We will learn about those early days and how comedy has played a major role in his life on and off the stage. I love the last line of my notes from this interview: The Story o

  • Loni Love

    17/04/2018 Duración: 40min

Who doesn’t love an inspirational story? My guest this week has an incredible story. Loni Love started working on the line in a GM plant in Detroit while still in high school. There she found a passion for electrical engineering, which landed her a scholarship to Prairie View A&M University in Texas. While in Texas, she took the stage for the first time and fell in love with stand-up comedy, routinely getting gigs throughout college. Upon graduation, Love landed an engineering job in California and headed west to pursue her dream. She became a regular at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, was selected for prestigious comedy festivals and was a finalist on the CBS revived Star Search. Not only is she still touring the country as one of the nations top stand up acts. She is also seen on THE REAL a daily, one-hour Emmy® nominated talk show on Fox Television Stations and in national syndication. Along with co-hosts, Tamara Mowry-Housley, Jeannie May and Adrienne Houghton, Loni discusses topics on the show rang

  • Stutz Artists: Debra, Laura & Jodie

    10/04/2018 Duración: 46min

There are so many talented people occupying this planet. On a recent Friday I was able to sit down with 3. Debra Fadely-Raber, Laura LaForge and Jodie Bailey represent just a few of the contributors to the Stutz Artists Open House April 27th and 28th in downtown Indianapolis. Each of these women has a specialty. Debra happens to be a photographer who likes to shoot many different things. She is married to photographer Kevin Raber and they had the most unusual wedding, surrounded by penguins in Antartica! Jodie is a visual artist who mainly works as a sculptor and hat maker. We are not talking your boring fedora. No, her creations are definitely works of art. Often times she uses unusual items like pencils or pages from a journal to craft a chapeau! (chapeau=hat in french) and Laura is an amazing painter. Each of these women talk about the importance of art and art education, how they got started, how you can become a collector (all budgets) and of course the event. The 25th Anniversary Stutz Artists Open Hous

  • Jimmy Pardo: A Funny Man Doing Great Things!

    27/03/2018 Duración: 01h38s

On a recent Saturday I was lucky enough to sit down with one of my comedic heroes, Jimmy Pardo. Jimmy has appeared on “The Tonight Show”, “Conan”, “ The Late, Late, Show” and had his own special on “Comedy Central”. His signature crowd work (go see him LIVE!) led him to be Conan’s opening act at show tapings for the past several years. Along with field correspondent work and even co-hosting duties on Conan, Jimmy has also hosted numerous shows and specials for the Game Show Network, Science Channel, VH-1, AMC, NBC and more. With so much to talk about I actually steered Jimmy to his outstanding podcast, “Never Not Funny”. An award winning podcast that started in the infancy of podcasting, way back in 2006! Find out why he started, who his dream guests are, and why he used his podcast to deal with a couple of very personal heartbreaks. He has also started the Podcast-a-Thon fundraiser for the charity “Smile Train”. This 12 hour marathon webcast has raised over a half a million dollars to help children born with

    20/03/2018 Duración: 01h09min

Acclaimed artist Nancy Noel fought undiagnosed dyslexia as a child and was told by a teacher in 8th grade “she would be nothing”.   Fortunately for art lovers everywhere Nancy was not swayed. She believes her learning disability actually opened the door for her amazing art work. She has painted animals on safari, African tribe men and women, Amish life, children, angels, favorite pets and more.  Her paintings are owned by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey. Hang in prestigious museums: The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC. And are featured in the documentary, Women Like Us: Three Journeys One Mission to Change the World. • Greg Warren: from Singlet to Standup

    13/03/2018 Duración: 58min

Greg Warren is no stranger to Bob and Tom Show fans. “Fluteman” Greg has made numerous appearance on our show and on comedy stages across the country. Hailing from St. Louis, MO, Greg was a two time state high school wrestling champion and an All American in college. His many years spent on the mat also inspired one of his more famous stand up routines, Fluteman. We learn how his teammates and coaches played a big part in his early comedy career. One that did not begin right out of college. After 10 years Greg left a job in sales at Proctor and Gamble to “gamble” on a career behind the mic. One that paid off well. • Driver Kristian Aleixo: Racing Towards His Dream

    06/03/2018 Duración: 01h12min

We all know racing families like Unser, Andretti, and Foyt. What happens when you don’t come from one of those families or have the means to get a “ride” in the million dollar sport of auto racing? Kristian Aleixo shares with us the struggles of being an up and coming professional race car driver. His drive and inspiration is impressive. Kristian suffered through the loss of his mother at an early age, was haphazardly raised by an absentee father and even spent 75% of his high school years homeless. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army. This Iraq War Veteran and 2 time U.S. Army Commendation Medal recipient had hopes of becoming an AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot. That dream was shattered with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, the same illness that took his mom. Kristian would not take this set back lying down. He took the skills that made him a top pilot candidate and focused them on his life long dream of racing. With no money and no training Kristian got resourceful and called around to

  • Henry Phillips: Comedy, Movies, Music & More!

    27/02/2018 Duración: 58min

Multi-talented performer Henry Phillips grew up on the outskirts of Los Angeles in a pretty normal suburban neighborhood with parents who are both actors. An accomplished touring stand up comic with critically acclaimed comedy albums. Henry’s career actually started as a singer/songwriter. We find out how he morphed that into a stand up act. Growing up so close to Hollywood it was not a surprise that he would someday venture into filmmaking. With a small budget and a few friends in the business Henry produced and starred in his own film “Punching the Clown” which was released in 2009. A semi-autobiographical film about a comedian trying to make a career in stand up which won rave reviews. The journey to the big screen is a story in and of it self. After winning awards at Slamdance (the Alternative film festival to Sundance) and ending up on Netflix Henry started to get noticed by industry people. That led to a second film, Punching Henry in 2017 which is appearing now on Showtime. This time around some heavy

    20/02/2018 Duración: 01h06min

As a relief pitcher he has played for the Washington Nationals, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and the Cincinnati Reds. Currently he is rehabbing successful Tommy John Surgery and hopes to be pitching again in 2019. He sits down with me and talks about how he beat the odds and become one of the 6%. • Paddy G! Comedian Pat Godwin

    13/02/2018 Duración: 59min

The Bob & Tom Show favorite Pat Godwin joins us this week. Pat began singing and writing songs as a young man growing up in northeastern Pennsylvania. In his 20’s he was performing in and around Philadelphia where he caught the attention of veteran comedian Todd Glass. Todd found Pat’s songs nice but it was the funny banter between songs that Todd really enjoyed. Enough that he convinced Pat to show up for an open mic at a comedy club to try his hand at stand up. In the crowd that night was the legendary Philly radio God John DeBella. DeBella was so impressed by Pat’s funny songs that he hired him to compose 4 on a daily basis. Taken straight from the headlines these tunes became a staple on the Morning Zoo at WMMR for nearly 7yrs. We learn how Pat ended up going to The Howard Stern Show where he stayed until around early 2002. We discuss the first time he visited The Bob & Tom Show, let him play us a few tunes, and then things turn a bit serious. Pat has suffered in the past from situational depressi

  • Jeff Boggs: One of the “Good Guys” in Hollywood!

    06/02/2018 Duración: 01h06s

Jeff Boggs is a producer, writer, and sometimes actor based in Los Angeles, California. Jeff started his career with an internship on “Late Night with David Letterman” on NBC. The odds of getting an internship with Dave is slim so Jeff had an interesting way of getting “in the door”. Once there he took full advantage of the position. Find out about his big break becoming the “Board Guy” leading to a job as the receptionist on the talent floor and then on to the writers floor receptionist. (Many start at the bottom and work their way up. Good life lesson young people.) Writing proved to be one of Jeff’s greatest talents and the staff of Late Night took notice. Jeff’s first joke to make it on the show was part of the famous Dave’s Top Ten list. His stint with Dave saw him nominated for a Prime-time Emmy and trip to the Emmy’s! His next job was with The Tom Green Show on MTV. This required a move to LA and an ironic skit where Tom “marries” actress Drew Barrymore. However that fell through when Tom and Drew actu
