    This week Breifne takes a look at some of the recent happenings and news in the world of Irish cycling, including the news that IG Sigma Sport will disband ahead of the 2014 season. The Irish members of the continental team had already announced their moves to other teams. Peter Hawkins will ride for UK based Madison Genesis while Ryan Mullen will join An Post-Chain Reaction. Sean Kelly will be signing copies of his book at Chain Reactions, Belfast on Friday with a 30km ride out on Sunday morning. Martyn Irvine's injuries are not as bad as first feared after his crash during the week in Ghent which should see him back in the saddle much sooner than expected.

Jim Breen of Cycle Against Suicide also talks about the growth of the movement over the last twelve months, and the plan to get 7,500 people cycling next year to help spread the word that "It's alright not to feel okay" & the Number 1 album released this week showcasing some fantastic Irish artists.

    This week recent World Cup gold medalist Martyn Irvine talks to Breifne about his year, talking about his accident in Taiwan where he broke his leg book-ended by winning the World Championship in February and a gold medal in the World Cup last weekend as well as getting hitched during the year. He also talks about his hopes of being a part of the Giro d'Italia next season. The new president of Cycling Ireland, Denis Twomey talks about the advances made within Cycling Ireland as he picks up the reins of the association. The establishment of a Hall of Fame within Cycling Ireland is one of the big recent announcements. Denis also talks about the growing numbers joining Cycling Ireland, the success of Nicolas Roche, Dan Martin, Martyn Irvine and others and the future including the plans for a new velodrome to help the sport push on at world level.

    Cycling Ireland CEO Geoff Liffey joins Breifne Earley to discuss the Irish Cycling Awards, the launch of the Cycling Ireland Hall of Fame and 25 years of the organisation. We also hear from International Garmin Sharp rider Dan Martin about his outstanding year in the saddle including his Tour de France stage victory and his classic win in Liege - Bastogne - Liege back in April and he looks forward to taking part in the Giro d'Italia in Ireland in 2014. Breifne also catches up with Darach McQuaid, who initially had the dream to bring the Giro to these shores and has been working behind the scenes to make this dream a reality.
