    It's David Fleming in conversation with Jock Bartley, of Firefall for the entirety of this edition of KVC-Arts. Bartley is one of the founding members of Firefall, and while some of Firefall have come and gone, Bartley remains the ONLY original member to have stayed with the group through today. Now with Jock Bartley and Firefall, this involves a history which is SO interwoven with so many OTHERS, it’s actually a bit startling to hear name after name after name. This interview with Jock will be spread out over two separate KVC-Arts, and on this one alone, there’ll be references to and/or interactions with The Byrds, Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, Timothy B Schmidt, Spirit, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris... many more really. We'll also hear about Firefall's new album, Comet.

    This edition of KVC-Arts has Lillian Vasquez in conversation with Matt Newton. He WAS an actor, became an acting coach, and is now an author as well. He wrote “Ten Steps to Breaking Into Acting,” and recently, “The No BS Guide to the Acting Biz.” Lillian also finds out more about a recent art project… and contest… wherein the city of Yucaipa called out to the community, asking for a representation of their favorite place IN Yucaipa. We’ll have conversation with the community services coordinator for the city of Yucaipa, Margot Mullen. We’ll also hear from Sage Foy, a student at Parkview middle school, and the winner of the contest. Her work is on display in the the Winter/Spring edition “Your Yucaipa Community Services Guide .

Emmanuel Rogers speaks with Lisa Brennan-Jobs about her life, and her father – Steve Jobs - a mythical figure who was rarely present in her life. We also have KVCR’s Benjamin Purper in conversation with Jonathan Maule. A writer, performer, and musician, he’s just released Whole Night Through: A Soundtrack to the Novella in Verse . This is a response to L.I. Henley’s novella in verse, Whole Night Through . It’s also an attempt at socially distanced collaboration, and features readings of Henley’s work.

    This edition of KVC-Arts is in memory of Charles Weldon. David Fleming speaks with Charles about the short-lived music group, The Paradons, as well as his acting career. Charles went on to appear in St. Elsewhere, Sanford and Son (as a cross-dressing thief), Roots: The Next Generations, and a VERY memorable intense role in Stir Crazy. Look it up. If you've seen Stir Crazy, you'll remember him. He was also in pretty much every TV cop show of the 70's, 80's and 90's; The Rockford Files, Kojak, Law & Order, The Streets of San Francisco... so much more. Charles Weldon passed away on December 7th, 2018, just about six months after this interview was conducted.

    The sole focus of this edition of KVC-Arts has David Fleming in conversation with Kathy Young. Just two months after she turned 15, she made it into the top 10 on both the R&B singles chart, as well as Billboard’s Top 100 chart, though she said it hit number one in Los Angeles ON – her 15 th birthday. Kathy Young was part of a concert which was originally going to be held (a couple times) in mid 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the concert had to be postponed, and rightfully so.     Tonight it’s music from The Modern Gentlemen. The Modern Gentlemen were at one point the longest running incarnation of The Four Seasons, backing Frankie Valli. With Valli's blessing, they've been on their own now AS The Modern Gentlemen for several years , and have just released a Christmas cd and a video for the title cut, "You Make it Feel Like Christmas" – that’s one of a few originals on this disc, The video is both fun, and tongue in cheek funny, and at the same time has some shots and fades which are just brilliant. David Fleming speaks with Brian Brigham, 1/4 of The Modern Gentlemen, about the video, the song that goes with it, the rest of the disc, and just a bit of Modern Gentlemen history as well.

    Brian Hyland first hit the scene in 1959 with "Rosemary." He hit it BIG - still at the age of 16 - with "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" and more carrying us into the early '60s. He has some BRAND new material out now, and this edition of KVC-Arts has David Fleming in conversation with Hyland talking about the new stuff, the Brian Highland "Triple Threat" collections, Christmas material, and lightly touching on Allen Toussaint and the "In a State of Bayou" album. They backed Frankie Valli for over a decade as The Four Seasons, but have been performing as The Modern Gentlemen for a few years now. It's a blend of Sinatra, pop, classic rock and more, all with the tight harmonies and sound they developed while with Valli.
