Sinopsis

Jacky Winter Gives You The Business is a weekly podcast hosted by Lara Chan-Baker and Jeremy Wortsman. As Producers at Jacky Winter — a creative production and artist representation studio based in both Melbourne, Australia and New York City — their roles put them right in the centre of the action, in between client and creative, so they get to see all sides of the process. But they want to see more. Joined by special guests from all corners of the industry landscape, they deep dive into the ideas, issues and insights driving the many moving parts of today's creative ecosystem. Shifting format from year to year, Season 8 sees them venturing outside their own industry to explore how others do it. How they conceive of, manage and produce all sorts of creative outputs — from buildings, to shoes, to plays, to documentaries, and all sorts of other things that make up our lives. It all involves production, and together they're exploring what that looks like for different people and companies and what we can learn from them. Join them each week as they highlight a different industry alongside a very special guest. It’s an ongoing exploration of what the hell we’re all doing and why and how we’re doing it.

As I teased in the first episode, Lara is beavering away at our tenth season which will be a deep dive into the business of illustration. It’s a pretty fun and ambitious project, but it sadly means we don’t have the time to do the hard-hitting investigative production and research that we normally have the resources to do, so therefore we’re going back to our beloved Open Tabs format for our ninth season. For the next few months as Lara and I put together this new project, we’ll be coming together each week and going through some of our own open tabs, providing an insight into the creative industry from our unique points of view.Using the internet as our lens, we hope to explore a variety of current events, opinions, and tools to provide thought-provoking conversation for anyone whose job it is to bring creative things to life, but mostly it’s a chance for us to talk a lot of shit.Remember! 24/01/2020 Duración: 37min

Happy beginning of Season 9! For anyone who’s listened to the show from the early days, you’ll know that the format often changes from season to season, as we tackle new topics and get excited about new things. We’re taking a bit of a lighter approach to this season, and going to be going back to our Open Tabs format. Based on a series that we’ve run across two different countries now, Open Tabs is basically a private event that we take to our ad agency clients and run in house. We get four amazing speakers to plug in their laptop and literally go through their open browser tabs. Each speaker gets one minute per tab and a maximum of ten tabs, and it’s a bit of a mashup between pecha kucha and creative mornings, and a whole lot of fun. This season however, with Lara doing a deep dive for our next season, I’m super excited to announce my new co-host for the Season, Rachael Kendrick. Rachael is a London based creative copywriter who’s worked all over the place, including Wieden + Kennedy, AKQA, Huge, Ogilvy and Go

  • 102 - Lost Episode Explanation / End Of Season 8

    17/12/2019 Duración: 14min

Before we get into it – I have two sad things to announce. The first is that this is the last episode of season 8. And what a season it’s been! We’ve learned a lot, and we hope you guys have too.The second thing, which is significantly sadder, is that this short recording you’re hearing today is not what we originally had planned as our season closer. In fact, a few weeks ago we recorded a wonderful interview with a brilliant music producer, Dave McClain, while he was visiting here from New York. Now look, there’s only one way to put what happened next… something fucked up. We don’t know what, who, how or why, but the audio file from that interview was completely ruined. We’ve spent a long time trying to recover it, but the tech gods were not looking out for us. My guess is that Jeremy secretly sabotaged it so I wouldn’t outshine him. All we know is that the interview is gone, Dave is back in New York, and with Jeremy and I both about to take off on summer holidays, there isn’t a huge lot we can do.Except! We

It’s crazy to think that Frankie has been on stands for 15 years now. For a whopping 7 of those, Sophie has been an integral part of making Frankie

Around three years ago, she became a mother and, needing more flexibility in her life, she started her own solo practice. With a particular interest in housing and projects that nurture community and the environment, working on her own practice allows Imogen to focus on the things that are truly important to her, such as having an inclusive design process that broadens the accessibility of architects for all sorts of people; having an ethical approach to her designs, suppliers and materials, to work towards a healthy future for the inhabitants and the wor
