  • Thirsty Suitors & Jusant Impressions, PlayStation Reconsidering GAAS Direction # 371

    04/11/2023 Duración: 01h41min

It is now November! Crazy how fast the year goes, but don’t worry Sean and Marc are here with another Video Games 2 the MAX. Sean’s been playing a slew of indie titles that have hit Xbox Game Pass in Thirsty Suitors, Headbangers: Rhythm Royale, and the climbing game, Jusant as well. Not to mention, he’s now reached the Alan Wake portion of Alan Wake 2. Marc's been playing a bunch of Remnant 2 and also finished Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and played Final Fantasy XVI as well. So there are plenty of thoughts on games this week for sure. Speaking of, Alan Wake 2 developer, Remedy Games, has updates on five games they have in development. Three of which are the Max Payne 1 & 2 remasters and Control 2. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was apparently at one point going to be DLC for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was going to be DLC for MW2 last year. When is it good to just leave a game as the intended DLC and when is it a better idea to make it a full game? Sad

  • Alan Wake 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Assassin's Creed Mirage Impressions # 370

    28/10/2023 Duración: 01h17min

On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX, Sean is joined by Marc again after he missed the last three weeks. Sean's been playing the newly released Alan Wake II and has some early impressions of the game (Spoiler Free), also, he has thoughts on the new character Saga, if the game reaches the heights of Survival Horror, and how her gameplay differs from Alan's. Sean also has more thoughts on Super Mario Bros. Wonder as well. Marc's been playing Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Assassin's Creed Mirage. Does the new AC game do the right thing by returning to its roots? Or is it a case of too much in the other direction? And does the dynamic duo in Spider-Man 2 truly deliver? There's also been some big changes at Microsoft as some promotions have occurred to help improve Xbox's future. Not to mention, their first-ever Xbox Partner Preview happened on Wednesday as well. Should it be compared to a Sony State of Play? Speaking of Sony, the major departure of Connie Booth has led to a lot of conversation about PlayStation's

  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder & Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Impressions, Most Wanted ABK Games # 369

    21/10/2023 Duración: 01h24min

One of the biggest release weeks of the entire year is upon us, as Nintendo’s main man, Mario, releases his first 2D title in more than a decade with Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Sean’s been playing it and has plenty of first impressions of the Flower Kingdom, the elephant powers, the cool moments with the Wonder effects, and more! But that’s not all as Randy Isbelle joins Sean again this week and he has some early impressions of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, if there’s anything that’s really changed about the game from the other two titles, the world, and more. They also discuss the cost versus length debate that’s sprung up regarding the game and if a Venom spin-off title would be a great idea. Randy also talks about the Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC.Also, Phil Spencer went on the official Xbox podcast and gave some big details regarding the Activision-Blizzard deal, when we could expect ABK titles to hit Game Pass, and more. The guys also discuss some personal favorite games they’d like to see come back o

  • Microsoft Officially Owns Activision-Blizzard & Cocoon Impressions # 368

    14/10/2023 Duración: 01h29min

Well, it is finally done. Microsoft has completed the 68.7 Billion dollar purchase of Activision-Blizzard King, trailers exist, statements have been made, and we now even know that ABK CEO Bobby Kotick is only sticking around until the end of 2023 as well. So what's next? Randy Isbelle once again joins Sean to discuss that very thing, what they'd like to see occur with some game franchises from the ABK library, could Guitar Hero flourish again under Microsoft? And will we see a new IP under their banner too? Do we think they could still make more purchases?Disney may also possibly be in the gaming publisher purchasing business, or at least some executives are pushing current Disney CEO Bob Iger to do it. EA has already been floated around because Disney currently does a lot of business with them, but does another company make more sense instead? And would this be healthy for the industry? Or would it spell impending doom?Sean also talks about his time playing the indie hit Cocoon, Sony finally reveals the lon

  • Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, Game Industry Layoffs Everywhere # 367

    29/09/2023 Duración: 01h13min

On this week's Video Games 2 the MAX, Sean and Marc discuss the end of an era at PlayStation, as SIE President and CEO announced that he is retiring. We examine his time with the company, what it means for Sony going forward, and if we could see them perhaps take a more consumer-friendly approach with the next SIE CEO. Sean's also been playing the newly released EA Sports FC 24. Does changing the name bring anything different to the long-running, formerly known as FIFA, franchise? Or is this more of the same? Also, is it worth going out and purchasing this one? Especially since the other games have now been delisted? Plus, some news from Tokyo Game Show, is Capcom right that video games should cost more than $70? the Xbox vs. FTC fight continues in-house, other high-profile folks leaving studios, Unity issues yet another walk back, and more! You can also watch this episode on the W2M Network Channel, please give us a like, comment, and follow over there too: https://youtube.com/live/6mvehaHt5V0- Follow on X (T

  • The Big Xbox Leak, State of Play and Nintendo Direct Reactions # 365

    21/09/2023 Duración: 01h21min

This episode of Video Games 2 the MAX is well, a lot, specifically for Microsoft as someone accidentally uploaded documents from their trial against the FTC, and then the court uploaded them to their website, which made a large amount of information regarding mid-gen consoles, the next Xbox console, a new controller, a list of upcoming Bethesda games, and more available to the public. The guys go through the major points of this, some comments by Phil Spencer, and other things from it too. Also, Nintendo and Sony both wanted to get ahead of the hoopla from the Tokyo Game Show and make their own news by releasing a Nintendo Direct and PlayStation State of Play on the same day, within hours of each other. There's plenty to discuss from those two events including Sean going gaga over the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trailer, another Mario RPG showing up on Switch, and well, a lot more! Also, we do touch on the new gameplay trailer for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, (we do not discuss the Story Trailer because it h

On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX, Sean, and Marc discuss Sea of Stars and Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, among some other games. Also, a huge surprise from Unity has game developers in a major outcry over the game engine pursuing charging fees if a game hits over a certain number of installs. And even though Unity has now backtracked on some of the initial wording and clarified some things, there's still a large number of unknowns, especially indie devs that could even delay DLC, delete their games entirely, or never go into subscription service because of these fees. This could be super detrimental to the industry or it could just wind up hurting Unity and Unity-made games. Either way, there's a lot to discuss on this one. Also, Starfield is doing well and even selling systems for Xbox. While Square-Enix does it again and says that another game, this time Final Fantasy XVI did not match expectations. Although it seems like many folks within the company understand where the issues are coming

Also, Marc's been playing another type of RPG, Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, and has been enjoying it. But he has a few qualms about the game, mainly the gear system. • Antstream Arcade Review, Consumer Protection for Digital Games # 360

    26/07/2023 Duración: 01h42min

Sean is once again joined by Marc Morrison as they discuss what is a relatively light news week and fill it with some other things to talk about. Sean has tested out and will review on this episode of the Antstream Arcade streaming service, which is all about retro games. And we aren't talking about games from the PS3 and 360 eras, this bonafide super retro with arcade games from the early 1980s all the way through 1990s staples like Mortal Kombat and Sensible World of Soccer. Is this worth it for old-school gamers? What about if you want to play some games with friends? He'll get into all of that and more. PlayStation's Project Q (which for some reason still doesn't have an official name) got leaked and it is an Android device. Does this make it more viable than before? • Best Games of 2023 So Far, Xbox Wins Against the FTC # 358

    13/07/2023 Duración: 03h05min

Sean is joined this week by Daniel Navaroli 1/3 of the Nerdic Gods Podcast, which you can find on Youtube in video format (https://www.youtube.com/@NerdicGods) or in audio format on Podcasts everywhere. And well, we have somewhat unexpected breaking news to discuss, as Judge Corley has denied the FTC their injunction, paving the way for Microsoft to close the acquisition deal that would have them make their most significant move yet to end this whole saga and see Activision-Blizzard-King become part of Xbox. At the same time, the CMA has moved to stay any court action and try to work out a compromise with Microsoft as well. Now that it finally feels more attainable for Microsoft and Xbox, do we think this starts a chain reaction of acquisitions? Do we actually see governments make moves to block some of them, or will this be more of an individual studio-type M & A movement? Does Sony retaliate at all? And do you think this leads to even more exclusive deals? Or could it actually level the playing field a

The duo also gets into their final thoughts on the Xbox vs. FTC trial and also give predictions on where Judge Corley's ultimate decision may lie in a case that could change the state of gaming forever. They also hit some highlights from the last few days including the big statements from Satya Nadella and Jim Ryan. Could we actually live in a world with no Third-Party exclusives? Is Xbox Game Pass actually "Value Destructive?" and should Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X always have to share everything? GetSelious & Sean have plenty to say on these topics, so get ready for a very interesting discussion to say the least.Plus, Sean has more thou

Do they both feel the hype that everyone else seemingly feels? And do they think it will be a GOTY contender too? Steve also gives his thoughts on Diablo IV and Sean has started his journey into playing Steam Next Fest demos with Eternights the Indie Dating Sim Action RPG. Since gaming is still in fallout mode from Summer Game Fest, the duo are going to examine some of the non-showcase banter and news that has cropped up in the last week, such as who has the best strategy when it comes to their streaming service and PC Gaming. Is it Xbox? Is it PlayStation? Or does it not really matter? There's also a lot of discussion going on surrounding long-game development cycles and if we need to go back to a world where there's more of a middle ground. Should we see more of a res

Summer Game Fest also led to some demo releases as well, namely Lies of P and Final Fantasy XVI. Sean and Jeff discuss both of these and how they feel after playing both games.
