Episode 9- Homeopathy in America07/11/2016 Duración: 01h02min
In just 3 short days from when I write this, Americans will go to the polls to elect a new president in what has been one of the most disturbing, bizarre, and contentious elections in memory, if not ever. I wanted to get in an episode before the election, before the results are in, to explore the intersection of the history of homeopathy in America and the issues and themes that have emerged during this election cycle. Iman Pour Navab is my guest this month. He discovers and shares amazing photos of homeopathic history- the hospitals, schools, homeopaths, and pharmacies that were part of a period of homeopathic vibrancy in the US that is virtually unknown. Harris Coulter's book Divided Legacy, the articles of Dana Ullman (https://www.homeopathic.com), and the site www.mnwelldir.org provided the source material for the basic story I tell throughout the episode.
Episode 8: Second Generation Homeopaths01/10/2016 Duración: 01h14min
The Present: Lucky are the children whose parents choose homeopathy as their primary mode of healthcare and prevention. What happens when a parent *is* a homeopath? How does that influence the life and career choice of their children? Today, interviews with Leiah Golden, daughter of Isaac Golden of Australia, pioneer of modern homeoprophylaxis; and Jane Frederick, daughter of Nancy Frederick founder and principal of the Baylight Center for Homeopathy in Portland, Maine and long-time student of Lou Klein and Jan Scholten. Leiah and Jane share their experiences as children with homeopathy as a dominant influence in their early years, as well as how they each have embraced homeopathy, in different ways, to both practice and forward the work of their respective parents. The Past: A more recent archival reading from the 1999 American Homeopath journal: I read excerpts from an interview with Dr. Ronald Whitmont, son of influential homeopath Dr. Edward Whitmont, on his life and contribution to homeopathy.
Episode 7: The Homeopathic Repertory07/09/2016 Duración: 01h21min
This month I tackle the beast that is the homeopathic Repertory. Roger van Zandvoort of Complete Dynamics generously joined me for a detailed conversation about the repertory and Complete Dynamics that ranged from clarifying the meaning of grades, his work vetting clinical remedy information from The Homeopathic Recorder, the challenges for homeopaths not working in their mother tongue with the repertory, to how all homeopaths can improve their skills with this essential tool. From Thailand to Maine... I think that's an interview-distance record! If you are not familiar with Roger's work and Complete Dynamics, you can check out the Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Completedynamics/ Also, be sure to check out the Complete Dynamics webpage if you are not already utilizing the repertory. It makes an excellent stand-alone resource, or companion to your current setup: http://completedynamics.com/ The archival reading this month comes from The Homeopathtician (gah! what a mouthful), a British jo
Episode 6: Homeopathic Education26/07/2016 Duración: 01h10min
This month, in the middle of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, I share a bit of my experience as a teacher and musings on education and specifically, homeopathic education. It's a big subject, and this hour barely scratches the surface. But it's a fascinating and thought provoking journey. The Present: Segments of interviews with homeopaths turned teacher: Robert Field of the Resonance School of Homeopathy, and Nancy Frederick of the Baylight Center for Homeopathy. Wendy Pollock, chiropractor and certified homeopath shares her first homeopathic educational experience, as well as how teaching is a part of the work of Homeopaths Without Borders in Haiti. Leiah Golden, daughter of well-known Australian homeopath Isaac Golden, describes a dreamy early homeopathic education: playing homeopath in her father's clinic. And finally Jeremy Sherr brings to light his thoughts on teaching for 30 years, all around the world. The Past: There are so many articles and references to homeopathic education and studen

Part 2 of my mini-series on Homeoprophylaxis. Getting back to my past/present/future framework- The present: In this episode, I bring you an interview with American homeopath Kate Birch, founder of Free and Healthy Children International and author of Vaccine Free: Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Contagious Diseases with Homeopathy. Kate's interview is a fantastic complement to my interview with Isaac Golden Phd. in part 1, as she shares her experience not only with Hp but treating vaccine injured children as well. The future: Acute and complimentary remedies are first year foundation lessons for homeopaths. But why are they complimentary? I'm sharing my Dynamis homework with you, using the methods Jeremy Sherr taught in my last class for how to see the complimentary relationship between acute and chronic remedy pairs. Episode 3, Part 1: Homeoprophylaxis02/04/2016 Duración: 59min
Homeoprophylaxis has been a part of homeopathy since Hahnemann discovered Belladonna as a preventative for scarlet fever. When Isaac Golden read Hahnemann's essay on the subject, he took it into modern times by developing an Hp kit as an alternative to the conventional vaccination program. In this episode, part 1 of a 3 part series, I interview Isaac and hear how he developed his program, about his current practice, and efforts preserve choice in healthcare in Australia. We conclude by dipping our toes into a bit of miasmatic theory. The second half of the show includes my reading of a paper by Dr. Grimmer and subsequent round-table discussion with five homeopaths in 1949. Over 50 years ago, our homeopathic counterparts were also debating the merits of Hp and sharing their successes and questions. From a practicing homeopath in midcoast, Maine comes 1M: A Homeopath's Podcast. It's a monthly show created by a homeopath, for homeopaths. Each episode will have a theme that ties together a bit of the past, present and future of homeopathy. How? By bringing out some of our archival writings, interviews will practicing homeopaths from all around the world, and then a bit of playtime with a remedy that just seems to fit the rest. Back to who created this podcast... I'm a homeopath. Not a sound engineer, or even someone who EVER messed around with Garageband or recording before now. When I wanted to record this introduction for about the, oh, 50th time, I decided it was time to just publish it! So keep coming back- my skills will get better, the podcast will mature, and hopefully you'll find a bit of yourself- and your inspiration as a homeopath- with 1M.
