Why? Everyone loves to receive gifts of course, but in my culture, when someone gives you something, you are then indebted to them, and this obligation can be somewhat stressful. I don’t believe they have meaning other than revealing the thoughts of our subconscious. So, I don’t believe they are prophetic or anything. At least, they aren’t for me. Do you enjoy hearing about other people’s dreams? I like hearing about the ones that baffle the dreamer. I recently helped a friend analyse a dream that had confused him, and he found my interpretation rather enlightening. Dreams with no significance are rather boring though and most dreams I experience are of this variety. Below is a transcript of the sample heard in this episode. As always, this band 9 model was scripted by an active examiner: We’ve been talking about families, and I would like to ask you a few more questions about this topic. What can a child do to make their parents proud? I think it depends on the values the family has tried to instil in the child. If the parents have tried to teach the child to be polite, and the child succeeds, the parents will be proud. Likewise, if the parents have emphasised sports or academics and the child excels in one of these, this will please the parents. Is it a good thing to reward children? Apparently, psychologists say that rewards are far more effective in reinforcing behavior than punishment…so in that sense, I suppose rewards are a good thing. I would imagine though that the reward has to be appropr

There is an endless number of applications that make this possible, and it appears this approach is only getting more popular. What are the advantages and disadvantages of meeting people on social media? The advantage is that you may meet someone who you would otherwise not meet in your daily life. This is the case of my brother and his wife who met onli

If it’s too short, I am very sad to leave. Part 2 I ate something and looked at the shops, but as I mentioned, I was also very tired, so I decided to rest a bit until my flight was ready for boarding. That is when it was announced that my flight to New York was delayed an additional three hours! You can imagine my frustration. Part 3 Do you believe that every country should have its own film industry? That is an interesting question. I think from a cultural perspective, yes. Why? It is important that each country produces stories that represent the life and culture of that particular place. Citizens must see them

I suppose it depends on what you mean by “better.” If you mean more effectively, I think inspiring a sense of ownership and inclusion is important. When employees feel like the success of a company hinges on their involvement, they feel an obligation to perform better. If they are acknowledged and rewarded for their efforts and feel like their contributions matter, they may be persuaded to contribute as much as they can.

  • Episode 54 - Would you like to live and work on a farm?

    08/09/2021 Duración: 11min

Full IELTS Speaking course: https://www.ieltsspeakingblog.com/ Let’s talk about agriculture and farms. When was the last time you were on a farm? Well, my uncle has a vineyard so if that counts, I was there two months ago. I helped him pick grapes and we enjoyed a lovely family lunch together. Would you like to live and work on a farm? When I am on my uncle’s vineyard, I admit this lifestyle seems very romantic at first, but the truth is you must dedicate your whole life to the land, so I don’t believe this type of life is for me. I think I would prefer an urban life with a better work-life balance.

Visit the blog entry for this lesson: https://www.ieltsspeakingblog.com/members/posts/73168-what-do-most-children-want-to-be-when-they-grow-up Here is a transcript of the lesson: What do most children want to be when they grow up? I think most children start by fantasising about the jobs of the rich and famous, so, athletes or entertainers like singers or actors. These jobs must seem relatively easy and glamorous for children, and I feel this is why they are appealing. Children also often want to do jobs that are familiar to them, so we frequently hear that they want to be teachers, policemen or doctors. Many children are also drawn to the professions of their parents, and this continues even into adulthood. I imagine this is why we see lawyers who are the children of lawyers, and doctors who are the children of doctors, and so forth.
