“We tell the stories of Scripture over and over because they anchor us and remind us of what's true when things get blurry.”  This is a quote from Melissa Zaldivar’s book titled, “What Cannot Be Lost: How Jesus Holds Us Together When Life is Falling Apart.” We loved talking with Melissa on this week’s episode as we discussed grief and loss. In her book, Melissa tells the story of losing her friend Jill to cancer as she weaves together threads of the life of Louisa May Alcott, the author of “Little Women.” It is a beautiful, hopeful, and heavy story of how Jesus can meet us in whatever situation we find ourselves in. In today’s conversation, we talk about how to rightly handle the Scriptures when faced with loss, how to help others that are in grief, and where hope is found even as grief lingers. Toxic is a cultural buzzword when it comes to relationships, but Gary doesn’t allow culture to define this word. And yet, we often become stressed or overwhelmed when it comes to giving and receiving gifts.
