Since starting the surrogacy process Adam and Marisol have had many questions and preconceived notions from their community about starting the surrogacy process and what their experience has been like so for. Marisol notes that she does not like talking about her fertility, that it feels deeply personal and that she is nervous about talking about it publicly. Three years later and the Marisol and Adam have grown to talk about fertility, infertility, making babies, IVF and the surrogate process a whole lot! This episode originally aired on 11/21/2019 and for those doing the math, we gave birth to Neo Luther 4/21/2021 so this was not the end of our journey for sure, but it was great insight to where we were emotionally in the process. It was the first time we had started dabbling our toes into the medical side of fertility and had started taking letrozole with our cycle. As Marisol and Adam move forward with surrogacy, Marisol recounts the feelings of grief and loss she is experiencing at this otherwise joyful and exciting time. The couple went out of town this weekend with their son, Neo and noted that it felt like Neo had recently taken a large developmental leap. They both shared how he felt more connected to Marisol more cuddly than ever before. Adding to your family and having a second child is a happy and good thing, but the underside of that is the feeling that you are abandoning your "only child."
