When the origins of punk are discussed, the ubiquitous names of The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Ramones are mentioned. Alongside those bands, at least two other names should be mentioned - The Saints (hopefully to be discussed another day) and The Damned. Welcome to episode 66 of See Hear Podcast. Tim, Bernie and Maurice look to Wes Orshosky's 2015 documentary "The Damned: Don't you Wish That We Were Dead" for some perspective on the band's career and legacy. The Damned started out as a punk band and released their debut single New Rose (backed with their cover of The Beatles' "Help!") a month before the Pistols' released Anarchy In The UK. Like other acts that started out with punk energy and aggression, they explored different musical avenues over the years, but like so many other bands, their relationships became fractured and their was much animosity.....yet in one form or another, The Damned are still a going concern in 2019.
