Sinopsis
In this episode, we take a closer look at the Tour of Flanders, one of the most gruelling one-day races that takes place in the Flanders region of Belgium every spring. We explore the course, which includes 6 cobbled sectors and 19 climbs, and discuss the cultural significance of this event to the Belgian people. We also cover the recent race, which saw Tadej Pogačar of the UAE Team Emirates take a spectacular lone victory after distancing his big-name rivals, including Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert. Despite a group of ten riders breaking away and gaining a three-minute lead, Pogačar inspired a comeback and chased down the breakaway before overtaking Mads Pedersen on the final ascent up the Oude Kwaremont. We also discuss two massive crashes that occurred during the race and examine the use of 'Bicarb System' from Swedish company Maurten, which has become a popular supplement among professional cyclists. Finally, we highlight Pogačar's historic achievement in joining legends of the sport
