This message examines the circumstances surrounding Jacob's exile in Egypt. Jacob was now Israel, and so it was that his exile was to be the exile of the entire covenant household - the household that would become the nation of Israel. God had disclosed to Abraham years earlier that a long season of exile was ordained for his descendants, and Joseph and his story were the primary instrument for this circumstance coming about.
