While there are many moments in Scripture that can serve as the backdrop to experiencing the peace of God, the name Shalom only appears in the book of Judges. At the time we find Israel living in a cycle of sin which is met with God’s punishment. Once more Israel repents and experiences God’s deliverance, yet the cycle continues. We discover that though God always desires to bring peace to His people, disobedience disrupts peace. In the midst of chaos, God brings His peace and still the restless in our hearts.
