Sadeqa Johnson, a former public relations manager, spent several years working with well-known authors such as JK Rowling, Bebe Moore Campbell, Amy Tan and Bishop TD Jakes. Her debut novel, Love in a Carry-on Bag is the recipient of the 2012 USA Best Book award for African-American fiction. Love has been nominated for the 2013 QBR Wheatley book award and the 2013 AAMBC award for best Romance. It was selected as a Black Expressions Book club alternate pick, OOSA Book club top pick for 2012 and a Conversations with Cyrus Webbs best 100 book for 2012. Her short story will be featured in ReShonda Tate Billingsley’s highly anticipated novel, The Motherhood Diaries (Strebor Books, April 2013).
