The Chicago Cubs fell to the San Diego Padres, 9-8 on Monday night. It was a frustrating loss for the Cubbies, who trailed 8-0 to start the 6th inning. Cody Bellinger drove in three runs and Dansby Swanson added an RBI triple, but the Cubs couldn't make the lead stand up. Javier Assad had a nice start to his outing, but fell apart in the 6th, leading to a 7 run inning for the Padres.
