On his way to getting his degree in computer science, Congressman Hurd had an epiphany after seeing a sign during his freshman year at Texas A&M University. The sign offered two journalism classes in Mexico city for $425, and luckily, Hurd had just enough to cover the fee. During his stay in Mexico, he had a guest lecturer in one of his classes who was a former CIA agent. Hurd was captivated and showed up the next day at his office to learn more about the agency. Fast forward a few years and Rep. Hurd found himself employed by the CIA. Washington D.C., India, Pakistan, New York City and Afghanistan are all the places he worked to defend the United States as a homeland security specialist.
