The Scripture readings are Proverbs 25:6-14; Ephesians 4:1-6; Luke 14:1-11. Only God can elevate us. When we sinners repent, abandon our own good works, and turn to God for our righteousness and holiness, then – and only then – we become God’s friend. And He calls us higher. He lifts us up.
