Sinopsis
Welcome to the Vikings Postgame Report. The Minnesota Vikings defeated the San Francisco 49ers in their home opener at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. The Vikings defense and special teams turned an interception, a blocked punt by C.J. Ham, and a turnover on downs into 17 points to help secure the victory. Sam Darnold hit Justin Jefferson for a 97-yard touchdown pass in the 1st quarter to take a 10-point lead and never looked back. Darnold finished the day 17 of 26 for 268 passing yards, 2 TD's, and 1 INT. Jefferson finished the day with 4 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown, while Jalen Nailor finished with 3 receptions for 54 yards and the other touchdown. Ty Chandler led the team with 82 yards rushing on the day. Defensively, the Vikings were hungry and got after Brock Purdy all game. Purdy was hit 7 times, sacked 6 times (including twice by Patrick Jones II), and threw an interception to Josh Metellus. Will Reichard was perfect once again and finished the day with three field goals and two extra points.
