Without question, the single biggest "people" challenge for military leadership these days is the festering and toxic problem of sexual assault and harassment between military personnel throughout the armed forces. More than just a “social deviation” or “barracks problem,” sexual assault in particular has followed American forces overseas and into combat arena, wherever they have gone since women were integrated into the force. And sadly, the problem only continues to grow and become worse as time has gone on. The Uniform Code of Military Justice has proven both in adequate and inapt in properly punishing those accused of these crimes, which is made even worse thanks to the perceived “Old Boy” network within America's military.
