It was not an unexpected loss, but certainly disappointing following the positive showing against Michigan the week before. After that win, head coach Lincoln Riley said USC had a tough, physical football team, but just a week later in South Bend it looked like the Trojans reverted to the team from last year that just couldn't put anything together on the road.
