Sinopsis
You will love this episode Vegan means no animal products or by-products. That even means no dairy, milk, eggs. Some vegetarians still have dairy or eggs. Some people go vegan because of their beliefs on animals rights, the effects on the environment or for health reasons. Consumption of too much processed meats are linked to cancers, heart disease, arthritis and hypertension. A lot of animal products (meat, dairy) can be high in saturated fat and cholesterol. Some people wonder how much protein they need and how will they ever get that through vegan sources? Women need at least 46g/day, men need 56g a day. We need protein for cell growth and repair. Also since protein takes longer to break down than carbohydrates, it makes you fuller longer resulting in weight loss. People need more protein if they are wanting to increase muscle mass. The best sources of vegan protein are green peas, quinoa, almond butter, beans, chickpeas, leafy greens, hemp, chia and sunflower seeds.
