Alan Jones is Manager of the Policy Office in the Long Range Planning Division of the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). Alan joined TDOT in 2004, and he advises TDOT officials on transportation policy issues, including air quality, energy, freight, land use, sustainable transportation and livable communities. He directs the state’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) program, conducts research on transportation policy innovations, and develops strategic recommendations for making the state’s transportation system more sustainable. From 1999 to 2004, Alan was a Senior Policy Analyst with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation working on air quality and energy issues. From 1994 to 1999, he was Executive Director of the Tennessee Environmental Council, a state environmental advocacy group.
