Tune een fa yeddi "Reconstruction & Gullah/Geechee Coast: Land Legacy and Justice Environmentally!"  Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation will present the history of land rights in the Gullah/Geechee Nation beginning in during the Civil War with a highlight on the life of Suzie King Taylor whose birthday was recently celebrated in the Gullah/Geechee Nation.  She will also discuss the Reconstruction Era National Monument and the public comment period for it that is nearing the end.  The Gullah/Geechee Nation's land issues are not simply those of displacement due to destructionment at this time.  They are also faced with the US governement's attempts to do offshore drilling and seismic gun testing which would destroy the environment.  The Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition and the Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association continue to stand up in the face of these battles as their ancestors did during the battles to protect their land rights and family members during Reconstruction.  Tune een fa yed
