Tune in to Gullah/Geechee Riddim Radio as hostess, Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation discusses her anniversary of going to the United Nations for the 1st time.  On April 1, 1999, Queen Quet became the first Gullah/Geechee to speak on behalf of the Gullah/Geechee Nation before the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Genevé, Switzerland.  Since that time, Queen Quet has continued to advocate for the continuation of Gullah/Geechee culture and is a global human rights defender.  She is also an environmental justice and equity advocate and activist.   Queen Quet spent her anniversary as part of a Tunis Campbell Day Celebration which is one of many events that are part of #GullahGeechee2020 in celebration of the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition's 20th anniversary.  Queen Quet was the visionary that founded the organization before anyone else in the world had any groups established with the two names together.  The Coalition under her leadership has spawned a number of other organizations
