John Schuerholz was named president of the Atlanta Braves in 2007, having served for 26 years as a general manager in major league baseball (including 17 with Atlanta). Under his leadership, the Braves have reached unprecedented levels of success by winning 14 consecutive division titles, five National League pennants and one World Series as well as compiling the best record in baseball over the 17 years from 1991 to 2007. Schuerholz serves on Major League Baseball's Playing Rules Committee and co-chairs the Commissioner's On-Field Committee. Prior to his work with the Braves, he worked for years with the Kansas City Royals. For his commitment to sport, Schuerholz was inducted into the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame in 2008, and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum recognized him as the National League Executive of the Year with its Andrew "Rube" Foster Award in 2001, 2002 and 2005.
