Knowing that his death was imminent, Paul charged Timothy regarding his duties: to stir up the gift of God given him, to not be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord, or of those who suffer for Him and to hold fast to that which he had heard and keep that committed to him. This also describes the job that we have today regarding that taught by the apostles - This same job remains the same for all Christians.
