Hello! Welcome to the Analytive Podcast. Today on the podcast we have Deniciro “Denny" Otsuga. Denny is a Japanese transplant to Colorado. He was initially trained as a Ph. D. molecular geneticist, and decided to use his scientific knowledge to help translate scientific discoveries to the marketplace to create a tangible benefit to society. After earning his doctoral degree, Denny worked in the technology transfer field. Technology transfer (which we talk a bit about in this podcast) is the process of taking inventions from the lab or university to deploying them into the marketplace through products or services. Denny used his science background to assess innovation from university research, patent them, and then find industry partners interested in developing it into a product. Denny then went to work for a biotech startup (putting him on the other side of the negotiation table) to license patents from university researchers.
