The prophets, apostles, angels, and even the Holy Spirit Himself have as the focus of their interest and attention the gospel of our salvation.  Peter challenges us as "elect exiles" being sanctified through trials to have that same edifying, empowering, calming, happy-making focus on our salvation.  If the gospel is the focus of God, angels, and the best of men, wisdom dictates God's people have that same focus.
