Once an art school dropout, Sarinya learned about firefighting when her friend convinced her to attend a FDNY information session. She knew she wanted to be a firefighter after watching a sizzle real of FDNY battling flames around New York. Sarinya started fighting fires with Engine Company 5 in East Village and recently became the first Asian women to become a FDNY Lieutenant for the North Queens area.
