Sinopsis
During Pride Festival I was particularly struck by the speech given by Peter Tatchell on behalf of the Peter Tatchell Foundation. They are a group that - in their words - seeks to promote and protect the human rights of individuals, communities and nations, in the UK and internationally. What caught my attention most about Peter's speech was who he had with him on stage: Espoir from Cameroon and Solomon from Uganda. As a Ugandan I must admit that I am only vaguely aware of how bad the conditions are for LGBT+ people there. Both Solomon and Espoir were kind enough to share the appalling truth of their experiences back home that have lead them to seek asylum in the UK. Their stories are at times uncomfortable to hear, but it is important that their voices are heard. Thank you - from the bottom of my heart - to Espoir, Peter, and Solomon for taking the time to talk to me.
