In the summer of 2006, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony are eligible to sign contract extensions that would kick in starting in 2007-2008. They get on a conference call to discuss their futures. LeBron says he's going to sign a four-year deal with a player option after the third year, making him a free agent in 2010. Wade and Bosh follow suit. Melo decided to sign a five-year deal with a player option after the fourth year, making him a free agent in 2011. We all know what happens next.
