Sinopsis

What does it mean to be adopted into the family of God? What type of Father is this? Why would he offer adoption to us? "The Father invites all people to be adopted as sons and daughters so that we can know his love and kindness for eternity!" If God our Father adopts us into his family, then we are called to adopt. Not everyone is called to adopt, but what if the question changed from, “Lord are you calling us to adopt,” to “Lord, is there any reason that we shouldn’t?” Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey writes, "Sons have to become fathers; daughters have to become mothers. Being children of God involves growing up and becoming like God." Our union as family comes from our union with our Father in Christ. The only thing that prevents sibling rivalry and division is a deep security in our identity as children of the Father.
