God longs for intimacy with His children. Exodus 33 proves that despite our disobedience, fear, or disinterest God is faithful and longs for relationship. In this text the Israelites sinned by worshipping the golden calf so God refused to accompany them to the Promise Land. Moses interceded on behalf of his people however and God promised to not just send an angel but to actually be with them. This wasn't enough for Moses however--he asked for God to show him his glory.
