Sinopsis
Many Traditional Catholics, particularly since the advent of Jorge Bergoglio, have wondered how it is possible to pray "in union with" known heretics - be they "declared" or otherwise. But Catholics don't make decisions based on feelings; They base them on Church teaching and precedent. In this episode Father Anthony Cekada walks through what the "una cum" prayer is and why it is in the Canon, why we can not "opt out," remain silent, or "withhold consent" during that portion of the Mass, and the implications for naming a notorious heretic/apostate in that part of the Mass. If you are struggling with this issue or have never heard of it before, this is an episode that is well worth a listen. We never expect to "settle" a matter on Trad Controversies, but we do hope to put out some important points of reflection so that the Catholic of good will can go on to research and pray on his/her own to come to proper conclusions.
