Sinopsis

On this week's programme Paraic looked at some plants currently available for summer planting. The peniculata varieties of hydranea such as Bobo, Little Lime and Wim's Red give super summer colour while Parahebee Avalanche is ideal for cover and very easy to propogate from cuttings. There was a reminder on treatment for blight on potatoes and tomatoes, information on sowing green manure and advice for planting new areas of waste ground, both large grassland plots and smaller garden spaces. Listeners questions included feed for cordalines and calla lilies, black spots on braod beans, propogating roses, honeysuckle and the curry plant, treatment for buttercups, mulch mowing in dry conditions and care of strawberries to promote strong fruiting.
