General Spalding wrote a book called Stealth War: How China Took Over While America’s Elite Slept.  General Spalding’s knowledge of China stretches back to his early years as a Major in the Air Force when he lived and studied in China. In recent years, he served in the National Security Council (NSC) where he was the Senior Director for Strategy.
