This is a story of two very different brothers. Which one do you identify with most? However, the story is really about the father. Jesus is trying to paint a clear picture of God for the Pharisees to see. He wants them to see who God is so that they can experience God’s mercy. He loves the older brother too – but repenting of our righteousness can be more difficult than repenting of our sins.
