The FA Cup is a magical thing. It definitely has it’s problems, as does any competition, but the idea of giant-killing, a new or unique away day, or eventually playing at Wembley means there’s something special about it. This past weekend was the FA Cup third round. Saints progressed (thankfully), but they weren’t the only team in town hosting an FA Cup match. Southampton Women’s FC hosted West Bromwich Albion Women on Sunday afternoon and progressed via a 3-1 win over higher-league opposition. After Monday’s draw, the team will play host to Crystal Palace Ladies on the weekend of January 26th. Crystal Palace, currently playing in the second tier of English Women’s football, will prove a tough test for Southampton.
