"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet." In John 13:14 In John 13:1-17, Jesus Christ depicts the true meaning of humility. Christ washed his disciples' feet to show that true humility is putting others before ourselves. We should always be willing to serve and help others, regardless of our title or status. When we perform true humility, we are living out the gospel and imitating the example of Jesus Christ. In verse 15, Jesus said, "I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you." In Christianity, the virtue of humility is highly-regarded. Performing true humility means disregarding one's own needs to serve others. It means being willing to put the needs of others above one's own and doing whatever is needed to help others.
