"Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." Colossians 4:2  An answer to some prayer goes through some process, while other answers can be instantaneous. However, it doesn't matter how you receive the answer; waiting on God is a process that takes time and patience. It's something that we have to continue steadfastly in prayer and thanksgiving. God always works in our lives, even when we can't see it. So we need to keep trusting Him and waiting for His timing.  We can find joy in the small things and keep moving forward through our steadfastness in prayer and thanksgiving. When we pray, we are communicating with the one who created everything and knows everything. We can be thankful for what we have been blessed with, even when our circumstances are difficult.
